Sollis in Six: Dr. Scott Braunstein, National Medical Director

In our running series, Sollis in Six, we pose six questions to a team member to give you an inside look at #LifeAtSollis.

Dr. Scott Braunstein
National Medical Director

Dr. Braunstein is board-certified in both emergency medicine and internal medicine. Prior to joining Sollis, he was a Clinical Instructor of Emergency Medicine at Cedars-Sinai for 15 years, where he delivered a number of nationally published lectures. He also patrolled the NFL sidelines as airway physician for the Los Angeles Rams.

  1. Do you have a morning routine – what does that look like?
One of my favorite things about my job is that every day is exciting and different. Some days I am caring for patients on a clinical shift, while other days I am meeting with our medical partners (PCPs and Specialists) to help ensure that our members have access to the best providers around. Some days I am reviewing clinical cases, and on others, helping create the roadmap for future Sollis Health products, services, and clinics. I can truly say that no two days are ever the same.
  2. What motivated you to join the team at Sollis Health?
Having trained in Emergency Medicine at UCLA, and then serving as a leader at the Cedars-Sinai ER for 15+ years, providing the highest level of patient-centered care was ingrained in my nature. However, over the years, due to various deficiencies in our medical system, this became more and more challenging within the traditional system. As soon as I learned about Sollis Health, I knew that this was exactly the model of patient-centered care that the Los Angeles community wanted, needed, and deserved.
  3. What does delivering concierge emergency medicine mean to you?
Practicing concierge Emergency Medicine means being able to provide the type of care that we hoped to provide when we decided on a career in medicine. It allows us to spend time with our patients, to come to know our patients as individuals, and to be advocates for our patients, rather than gatekeepers.
  4. As a Medical Director at Sollis, what’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is the consistent, grateful feedback I receive from our members. Our patients are so joyfully overwhelmed by the expert, personalized care they receive, that they routinely take the time to express their appreciation. I am extremely proud of the level of medical care we deliver.
  5. What’s one thing you often hear from Sollis members?
The comments I hear most often from our members are: “I don’t know how I ever managed without Sollis Health,” and “You really need to open up a Sollis Health in… (Las Vegas, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, etc).
  6. Tell us one thing you love to do outside of work – for fun, for your wellbeing, anything!
My favorite activity outside of work is playing sports with my children. Whether I’m throwing a football with my son, or helping my daughter perfect her change-up, nothing brings me more joy than seeing their development, and their smiles.
